2 blog entries in a day... grp blog and now here... tis not good! i seem to want to do anything but get down to studying for my prelims..... argh.
anyway... more updates from the weekend... haha dun worry i will talk abt other things apart from the mag mile... for one, we ended up thronging the streets with thousands of other people who were participating in this huge chicago marathon event... i'm not so sure "participating" is the right word tho, since they were like so you1 zai1 xian2 zai1... ok lah, as tze said, most people also treat our singapore newpaper walk as a pretty relaxed affair too, but then it's another matter to see these participants holding wine glasses in their hands, or getting down from the bus or sprawled out along the pavement!
ooh speaking of which, the street buskers there are really good! jazz and elvis presley impersonations and whatnot. hmm what else.. went to watch fireworks with tze and h (as if i wasn't bright enough already =p), "went" to the millenium park, buckingham fountain, cultural center, stained glass museum and the art institute (well though we didn't exactly DO museums hahahaha... sorry i realize this probably isn't going to be very funny to a lot of people but i can't resist this part... all my valiant attempts at doing touristy things!)
received an extremely enlightening lesson about how-to-speak-in-american-lingo too. according to h, the whole point of american greetings is to make it as short and quick as possible. so the 'correct' answer to "wassup" is actually "not much" and not "nothing much"! hmm wasn't it during prepare when they told us to say "nothing much"... feel so cheated! haha. and it's quite amusing when we talk to him in singlish and he replies in his american accent. maybe the angmohs can understand us after all! it's just a ploy to get us to succumb to their ways! haha oops im sounding like xinmin liao... it's late liao and my mind is getting cranky!
so that marks the end of fall break for me... it was super tiring, esp on the first day, considering how i slept for like 3 hours, drove from 3.30am to 5am, then spent the whole day out walking... at least we discovered the free trolley service on sunday.... but still... no wonder my slippers got so deformed... heh but i think it's really fun to go around visiting people's schs... amazing to think how like back in JCs we all led pretty similar lives and now our living environments/ lifestyles are so different!! in a superficial sense at least, in terms of like housing (tze's executive condo compared to my down-to-earth lil' place) and shopping and school work (i bet barnard would reel in disbelief if he knew that his humanz student was taking a stats class with the engineers)...
ok but for now, it's back to cornell and prelims and the arrival of cold weather......
